Personal Psych

The focus of this section of the website is to provide you with tools and information resources that will help you grow and improve personally.  Although it's called Personal Psych, everything we do is personal. If you want to be good at sales or marketing or managing, you've got to get personal.

But it's more than just understanding yourself. It's about understanding how others see you. It's about how you relate and connect (or don't relate or connect).  In the same way that our focus is on the customer in the marketing and sales sections, the focus is outward here as well. Do you know how other people see you and what sort of impression you make? Are you using your personality or social style as an excuse? Do you find yourself saying things like "that's not the real me" or "that's not what I meant."

If you answered yes to any of these questions, perhaps its time to learn more about the you that others see. You can begin your journey at our blog and Resource Room.

5-BY-5 ENERGY ANALYZER

Are you surrounding yourself with people and things that add energy or drain it?

The Energy Analyzer is a simple way to identify which people, activities and things are most in line with who you are and what you want, and begin to minimize those that do exactly the opposite, i.e. suck energy away from you and what you are meant to be and do.

Like attracts like. When you focus on spending your time around people and activities that bring out the best in you and give you positive energy, you’ll find that you attract more of those people and activities. And when you eliminate the draining activities, people and things, you’ll find that you’ve made room for more of the good ones to come in.

It also works the opposite way – the more you spend your time with people and activities that suck the life out of you, the more you’ll end up with more people and activities that suck the life out of you.

It’s a simple but powerful formula: Identify the people and activities in your life that energize you, then spend more time with these people doing these activities and less time with people and activities that have the opposite effect.

The Exercise

During the course of a week or two, rate the activities of your day.

  1. PASSION: I love doing this activity. It energizes me. It’s easy for me to get in the zone and lose track of time.
  2. ENJOYMENT: I enjoy this activity and look forward to it, but I’m not passionate about it.
  3. NEUTRAL - This activity neither inspires nor pains me
  4. WORK: This activity feels like work. I don’t enjoy it, and I often dread doing it.
  5. DRAIN: I hate this activity. It drains me.

Also rate the people you spend your time with.

  1. INSPIRATION: This person energizes me. We’re on the same wave length and I’m at my best when I’m around them.
  2. SUPPORT: This person is a friend and respects and supports me.
  3. NEUTRAL – Fairly equal measure of positives and negatives.
  4. NEGATIVE ROI – More negative energy surrounding this relationship than positive energy.
  5. DRAIN: This person is sucking the life out of me. I really don’t like them and I don’t feel good when I’m around them.

Make a plan to eliminate all the 5s and 4s and as many of the 3s as possible from your life. It’s a simple task but one that will dramatically impact your life and wellbeing.
