Marketing & Selling Resources

If you regularly read our Inner Circle news, you'll remember that Pam and I often share resources that help you and your business.  We simply believe in sharing our wealth of knowledge.

This issue contains two resources to help you get better results from your marketing and selling - and also your Social Media Marketing.  All three of these rely on effective psychology.  In fact, all they are is psychology.  The more the message matches the psychology of the intended target, the more effective it can be.  (You already know that this is our sweet spot.  We're really good at discovering the psychology of both the sender and the recipient.)

The Resources:

In the past week, I started a blog titled "Inside Your Client's Head" to give you insight into how to use psychology in your Social Media Marketing. If you're not familiar with Social Media Marketing, please pay attention to it starting now, because it will soon eclipse all other forms of marketing.  It's that important!  http://socialmediopolis.com/group/mlovas

Pam and I also started a LinkedIn Discussion Group called "Psychological Marketing Network.  Again, the goal is to give you information on how to use psychology to improve the results from your marketing and selling.

Find it at: http://www.linkedin.com/groups?gid=2271201&trk=hb_side_g

If you're not yet combining Social Media Marketing with your traditional marketing and selling, you're going to be late to the party - Social Media Marketing will probably be the most important business development since the personal computer. It's that important!

Why are these resources important to you?

The professional world is seeing a major shift in how to get new business.  Only a few years ago, traditional marketing and selling practices drove your business.  But, today the landscape is already different.  I picture it as a popular revolution, a people's uprising, a revolt against companies that ignore them.

Consumers simply got tired of being pitched 24 hours a day - and then getting bad service.   Amazon and ebay taught people how to share their experiences with each other, making it extremely simple for other people to see which firms to avoid.  You've probably seen comments like: "Beware! Slow pay.  Slow delivery.  Not worth the price."  How would you like it if those comments were made about you?

When the new technologies (Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin) emerged, consumers jumped at the chance to take a more proactive role to influence the marketing and selling process.  In a matter of months, the business world got turned upside down.  What's funny is that many firms don't yet realize it.

Bottom line -  marketing is no longer a one-way transmission of sales information.  Through the new attitude and technologies, it has become a two-way conversation between the companies and the people who buy.  Those people also spread the word (good or bad) about you and your firm.  But, if you're not involved in Social Media Marketing, you're not involved in the conversation.  In other words, unless you're proactively involved in Social Media Marketing, you don't know what your target market is saying about you, thus you have no way to influence it.

News

1.  Our book Axis of Influence was released in April.  It's already surprised us with a groundswell of attention because it is the only book ever written that teaches you specifically how to improve your credibility and likeability.  And, we back up our advice up with the research.

2.  Our newest eBook is titled Words that Sell.  It takes a bottom-line approach and helps you capitalize on psychology in your marketing.  We give you lists of words to use and maps of how people's eyes move whe they read your websites.  If you don't know these things, you're probably chasing people away.
